As we glide through the last days of this unusual year, wishing for better times to unfold in the year to come, Temnikova & Kasela and Barbara Seiler are sharing a potpourri of 24 artworks over the course of the last 24 days of 2020. From Tuesday, December 8, counting down to the new year, we will present an artist with a new work each day. The works relate on different levels to the challenges that this year has brought to us all.
You will find the respective work on our social media accounts, in our newsletter and on our websites, where we will add a new work every day.
For many years, our two galleries have met at art fairs, biennials and gallery weekends all over the world. We have been booth neighbors at art fairs, and helped each other out. This year has been different, as none of us has been traveling, art fairs and biennales have been cancelled, and our galleries have been closed for months. By sharing our gallery platforms and counting down to a new year, we want to revive this spirit and to finally get this year over with!

Sigrid Viir, "Postcard for Grandparents", series of 8 photos, 2007
Estonian Artists Association has chosen Sigrid Viir as the recipient of Artist laureate salary during the years 2021-2023.
Artist laureate salary is awarded to five outstanding artists, curators or art historians/critics every year by Estonian Ministry of Culture and the purpose of the salary is to allow professional dedication to creative activities and thereby contribute to the development of Estonian culture.

The duo exhibition of Kaido Ole and Benjamin Badock, "A Sparrow in the Hand" was opened at Tallinn Art Hall Gallery on 19 November. Amplifying common stereotypes, the works of the two artists depict life in an idyllic ideal world. The curator of the exhibition is Siim Preiman.
The exhibition will remain open until 17 January 2021.
Inga Meldere, "Spring, When There Was Still Snow or A Scary Painting"
Inga Meldere is participating in the exhibition “Contemporary Art” at the Kuldīga District Museum.
The exhibition shows contemporary art adapted for children, featuring works by Andris Eglītis, Katrīna Neiburga, Miķelis Fišers and Inga Meldere. The exhibition is designed for preschool and first grade children with the aim of helping increase interest and understanding of art, as well as to invite children - and their parents - to express their opinion and not be afraid of the incomprehensible.
The exhibition is on view from 29 November until 31 January 2021.

Kaarel Kurismaa's installation "Tallinna trammi-object" in Tallinn was announced as a cultural heritage object by Minister of Culture Tõnis Lukas.
"Tallinna trammi-objekt" was completed in 1993. Temnikova & Kasela gallery proposed the object be made a cultural heritage object in October of 2019.
The object's form has preserved itself well over the years but the color scheme has been changed in cooperation with the author. The original blue-red-white tone was turned blue and yellow in 2008. The piece, made of brick, concrete and metal is given kinetic extra value by a weather vane.
City artist Urmas Mikk commissioned for the piece in 1988 with the intention of creating a sculpture for the 100th anniversary of tram traffic in Tallinn. The initial idea of the installation comes from "Trammivasikas", a 1983 puppet film by Kurismaa.

Olga Chernysheva was part of ROHKUNSTBAU 25, the Jubilee Exhibition.
The Brandenburg Art Festival celebrated its anniversary year together with artists from the past 25 editions, including many well-known names from the international art scene. Two decades before the big country life trend, ROHKUNSTBAU drew attention to areas of retreat away from the metropolises. In a summery, relaxed dialogue with art, the landscape and the local people, the festival promoted humane togetherness and a caring relationship with nature.
The exhibition was on view from 26 June until 4 October 2020.

Olga Temnikova and Marian Ivan are pleased to invite you to the opening of "On Adornments" at Spike Berlin this Friday, 2 October, 6pm.
For years, gallerists and friends Marian Ivan from Ivan Gallery and Olga Temnikova from Temnikova & Kasela have been running into each other at art fairs and international events. Communicating online more often during quarantine, they finally got a chance to collaborate on a group show featuring artists from both galleries’ programmes. Under the title "On Adornments" lent from Simona Runcan's 1978 series of pastel drawings, the exhibition brings together works focusing on kinetic and tactile characteristics of structures and surfaces.
The exhibition features works by Geta Brătescu, Tobias Kaspar, Kaarel Kurismaa, Simona Runcan, Jaanus Samma and Iulia Toma and it will be on view until 30 October 2020.
Inga Meldere's works will be shown as part of Kuvan Kevät 2020, the annual MFA Degree Show of the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki.
This year the spring exhibition had to be rescheduled to autumn and it will be on view from 10 October to 8 November 2020.

Flo Kasearu collaborated with Kalamaja Museum to create a one-day-exhibition titled "The ears of Kalamaja".
The exhibition is on view only on 20 September 2020, from noon until midnight.

Kris Lemsalu will be part of the group exhibiton "Human After All: Ceramic Reflections in Contemporary Art" at the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

Kris Lemsalu and Sarah Lucas have curated the exhibition "SEÑORA!" for Meyer Kainer as part of curated by, the gallery festival with international curators in Vienna.
The group exhibition including works from Kris Lemsalu and Edith Karlson is on view until 24 October 2020.
Merike Estna and Kaarel Kurismaa are part of the group exhibition "Let Me Dream Once More" at Narva Museum Art Gallery.
The exhibition is curated by Kristi Kongi, and it will be on view from 18 September to 10 January 2021.

Temnikova & Kasela is honoured to participate in Open Circle initiative, the first gallery-sharing initiative in Russia, a curated project by five international gallerists (Capsule Shanghai (Shanghai), Fragment (Moscow), Lubov (New York), Raster (Warsaw), Temnikova & Kasela (Tallinn)). The title of the first project is "The New (Sur)Realism" and Temnikova & Kasela is showing works by Jaanus Samma.
The exhibition is on view at Fragment in Moscow from 12 September to 25 October 2020.
Marko Mäetamm's solo exhibition "Sex, Death and Holy Moly" is currently on view at Meno Parkas Gallery in Kaunas.
According to Mäetamm the show is about things that are kind of essential for him these days - what is happening in the society, how that affects him, what is happening with him, what disturbs him the most, and how it all can be traced in his thoughts, fears, dreams, drives and triggers.
The exhibition is curated by Airida Rekstyte and it is on view until 2 October 2020.
Sigrid Viir, "Office Sweet Home (Office is Not a Place It's a Feeling)", 2019
Sigrid Viir is taking part of the the annual Contemporary Art Festival Survival Kit, which is organised by Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art, in Riga. The eleventh edition of the festival is titled "Being Safe is Scary" and is curated by Katia Krupennikova.
The exhibition is on view from 4 September to 4 October 2020.

's duo exhibition “Going Going” will open at Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen, on 29 August.

Flo Kasearu's video work 'Client's Day' is part of an online film and video art screening series, at post platform of the Museum of Modern Art.
"From Matter to Data: Ecology of Infrastructures" presents a selection of 15 films and video works that will be made available in three parts. In this second selection, available to watch from 12-26 August, artists reflect on the intersections between historic Soviet architecture and newly built infrastructures.

Krista Mölder is giving a lecture at United ISSP and Baltic Analog Lab Summer School in Cēsis, Latvia.
The title of Mölder's lecture is "The Secrets and Possibilities of the Light Trap."
